#Encryption is awesome. It helps to keep everyday people safe. It enables journalists to do their work and do their share for a healthier democracy. Encryption should be easily accessible and trustworthy for everyone. That's why I say YES to encryption!

@konstantin
Good principles. And it shouldn't even be a question. However, unfortunately democracy is not healthy so it cannot become healthiER, and journalists are not helping here at all. #TechSolutions #WontFix #SocialProblems
@konstantin Also, FWIW, and with the best of intentions to simply inform, despite running the risk of just coming across as 'splaining; #Awesome is a non-concept. It has been so overused it is now a waste of bits and means nothing. All the same something like a tsunami, or a volcano, or 5 million acres of forest fire is possibly awesome. So should I take it that encryption is like those things?
There are many suitable adjectives in the dictionary, or thesaurus for that matter. Why not use them?
@kino OK. Not forcing you to use the word awesome. Its what I felt was appropriate.
@konstantin BTW, It's not personal at all. Many people use the word and it bugs me. - I'd never use it regardless of your force
To me it comes across as showing a lack of in-depth thought. But I understand that among 99% of your intended audience, it probably goes down well. I still think Encryption deserves better. Best wishes for the #FNF, good work.
@kino If you consider a non-binary spectrum of more or less healthy, then "healthier" is an option. And I strongly believe that journalism is a necessary pillar of democracy and that many journalists are doing important work that indeed is an important contribution to democracy.
@konstantin
Indeed, journalism is more than necessary, it's essential. I'm being pedantic here and in my other toot, but all the same "healthier" implies moving from a state of health. I don't think it is correct to promote the idea that democracy is in any kind of state that suggests "health" at all. I would say something like.. (there's so many words to choose from , how about something nerdy?) "...do their share to un-break democracy..."
@konstantin encryption is no more sinister than posting a letter in a sealed envelope. It should be available in exactly the same way as the Postal Service is available to everybody.
