Behind #Magdeburg's biggest shopping centre and just outside #UnserLieberFrauen abbey turned art museum, I found these two #hares frolicking in the grass. There's quite a big #hare population in the city, but I've never had the chance to see them so close and take somewhat decent photos. And yes, they are hares, not rabbits!

European Bee-eaters are migratory, and Austria is one of the places they come to when they breed. During courtship, the male feeds the larger insect that he catches to the female while eating the small ones himself.

It's been a while since I took my 400mm out for a spin. I finally gave it to Nikon to get it cleaned and serviced yesterday. Can't wait to take pictures with a non-moldy lens haha!

Da der Asiatische Marienkäfer einen großen Appetit auf Blattläuse hat, wurde er seit den 80er Jahren im großen Stil zur biologischen Schädlingsbekämpfung eingesetzt. Der heimische Marienkäfer frisst rund 50 Blattläuse am Tag, der Asiatische Marienkäfer schafft locker das Fünffache. Pro Jahr zeugt der Asiatische Marienkäfer mindestens zwei neue Generationen, stimmt die Witterung und das Nahrungsangebot auch drei bis vier. Der Siebenpunkt zeigt hingegen nur eine Generation pro Jahr. Herrscht ein Mangel an Blattläusen stellt der Käfer schnell auf andere Beute um und verspeist Eier und Raupen von Schmetterlingen und Gallmücken, aber auch die anderer oder der eigenen Marienkäferart.
