📚️ Vegastrike is a libre, multi-platform, mature space flight, combat and trading simulation game (and engine). The player is a mercenary starting out with an old broken down cargo ship and just enough money to survive in a vast, dynamic and open universe, populated by solar systems (more than 100), connected by rings (aka jumps) where 3 factions evolve (the Aera, the Rlaan and the Confederation - the humans). In order to evolve, he will have to accept missions that will earn him friendship or enmity, but that will allow him to get richer and acquire equipment and ships.

The castle (named Elephantine) seems to be under siege. 📚️ UnCiv is a ~ libre (icons & sounds not all libre), multi-platform, single-player / multi-player (by exchange of "User ID"), turn-based strategy game (4X) & Empire building, inspired by Civilization V: the game starts in 4000 BC Christ, the player directs a nation or an ethnic group, with the aim of supremacy over the other protagonists, leading his group until 2050 AD. It's a neat game that offers in-game help to get started, solo/multiplayer, map editor and game save / load. Very good!

It is a mature game (nearly 20 years of development), very complete and of very high quality, offering several soundtracks, more than 200 types of finely detailed units, 16 races, 6 major factions, many campaigns and maps to download from the interface, and an editor.

📚️ Quake 1 is a FPS (1996) in which the player is the ultimate survivor of a commando sent to a military base where researchers have developed a teleportation prototype that has been corrupted by Quake, a demon who tries to use it to invade the Earth with his hordes of monsters. VkQuake is a libre, multi-platform QuakeSpasm engine running on the Vulkan API, offering much better performance, higher frequencies than 72 Hz without breaking physics, multi-threaded loading, support for 2021 re-release data, underwater effect for dives, dynamic shadows, improved colour accuracy, 8-bit colour emulation, scaling, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, scriptable particles, custom HUDs, and a menu to make loading mods easier. It is also designed as a port, as faithful to the original as possible, compatible with all mods that run on QuakeSpasm like In The Shadows or Arcane Dimensions.

📚️ Cataclysm: Bright Nights is a fork of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, itself a fork of Cataclysm, and a libre, multi-platform roguelike with challenging and highly original gameplay based on day-to-day survival. It's much more than just a zombie game. The player tries to survive (managing hunger, thirst, disease, ..., and can farm, craft things, build shelters, vehicles, ...) in a post-apocalyptic, persistent and procedurally generated world, overrun with monsters - all more dangerous and nightmarish. It can be played with a ncurses or graphical (tile-based) interface.
