how it started => how it's going
Luck was on our side in Prague. After a long day in the blazing sun, the weather abruptly shifted. Just as we got back to our beautiful Art Nouveau hotel it started pouring rain and the temperature dropped 15 degrees. Perfect timing for us to grab jackets and umbrellas. Here we are waiting for the elevator ready to brave the rainstorm to go out for dinner.

"Standing Naked Couple, Embracing, Study for "This Kiss to the Whole World" from the Beethoven Frieze," Gustav Klimt, 1901.
Y'all know Klimt by now.
This is a study done as a reference for a larger work. Klimt was putting together a large frieze for an exhibition of the Vienna Secession, that was also the 75th anniversary of Beethoven's death. The frieze was inspired by Wagner's interpretation of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
The frieze shows a knight being called to fight for Happiness, but also being tempted by lust and decadence (and being alarmed by a figure representing syphilis). In the end, a choir of angels sing, and a naked couple embrace. The frieze is still on display in the Secession Building in Vienna.
This sketch, though, is beguiling in its simplicity, and qualifies as a work of art in itself.

A fancy #door in the heart of #Bremen for #Doorsday 
This listed building is called Deutsches Haus ("German House") and was built between 1908 and 1911 as a council café ("Rathscafé"). It is divided into three gabled houses and features ornamental pieces of other historical buildings as a "document of old Bremen art and culture". It also has porticoes, which I haven't seen often in German towns and cities. Well, at least in my area. After its destruction in WW2, the building was rebuilt in 1950. Today, it houses a PR agency and a psychologist, amongst others.
While kiddo was watching the hula hoop artist I showed you a few weeks ago, I was distracted by this door and had to cross the street to snap a picture.

I absolutely love this sculpted nameplate on Baltic Chambers on Wellington Street in Glasgow. It was built in 1897 in the Free Clasaical Style from a design by Duncan McNaughtan.
