N-gated Hacker News<p>🚀 Behold, the revolutionary 'Claude Code' – the command line tool you'll pretend to use to impress your friends while still googling "how to use command line" 🤓. Lars Trieloff<p>The <a href="https://toot.berlin/tags/MCP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MCP</span></a> protocol (yes, I suffer from RAS Syndrome) has two functions resources/list and resource/get. Are there any MCP hosts that actually implement these in a useful way? <a href="https://toot.berlin/tags/Cursor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cursor</span></a> ostensibly added support in 0.46.x but I can't get it to list them. <a href="https://toot.berlin/tags/Claude" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Claude</span></a> Desktop will list them, but you need to manually add them to a prompt, and it's hard to see the benefit over copying and pasting URLs. <a href="https://toot.berlin/tags/ClaudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClaudeCode</span></a>’s source code lists the methods, but it never seems to make use of them.</p>

Miguel Afonso Caetano<p>"We recently released Claude Code, a command line tool for agentic coding. Developed as a research project, Claude Code gives Anthropic engineers and researchers a more native way to integrate Claude into their coding workflows.</p><p>Claude Code is intentionally low-level and unopinionated, providing close to raw model access without forcing specific workflows. This design philosophy creates a flexible, customizable, scriptable, and safe power tool. While powerful, this flexibility presents a learning curve for engineers new to agentic coding tools—at least until they develop their own best practices.</p><p>This post outlines general patterns that have proven effective, both for Anthropic's internal teams and for external engineers using Claude Code across various codebases, languages, and environments. Nothing in this list is set in stone nor universally applicable; consider these suggestions as starting points. We encourage you to experiment and find what works best for you!"</p><p><a href="https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/claude-code-best-practices" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">anthropic.com/engineering/clau</span><span class="invisible">de-code-best-practices</span></a></p><p><a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/GenerativeAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GenerativeAI</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/AIAgents" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AIAgents</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Claude" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Claude</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/LLMs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LLMs</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/ClaudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClaudeCode</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/AgenticCoding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AgenticCoding</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Programming</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/SoftwareDevelopment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SoftwareDevelopment</span></a></p>
Wolfram wants peace<p>Wow <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/claudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>claudeCode</span></a> you went crazy now, this is not code one wants to maintain, and even less use. Wolfram wants peace<p>🙈 aaaaah, I think I know what will fall out of this</p><p><a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/claudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>claudeCode</span></a></p>

I do wish it could be local. 😔</p>
Wolfram wants peace<p>Since I toot a lot about it.<br>Here is something I had <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/claudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>claudeCode</span></a> build. <br>- I started last night<br>- Polished some things today<br>- about 4h invest<br>- It is 98% <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> built<br>- Cost about 10 Euro</p><p>I am not all happy with it, but had to stop at some point. Source code is linked.</p><p>It explores all the JS objects your browser brings, window, Array, Math, BigInt, Promise, etc.</p><p><a href="https://picostitch.com/blog/2025/03/object-browser/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">picostitch.com/blog/2025/03/ob</span><span class="invisible">ject-browser/</span></a></p><p>Actually the first try was already doing all the things I had it do in a version I had built a while back.</p>
Wolfram wants peace<p>Do commits regularly and don't ask the <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> for rolling back, esp. <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/claudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>claudeCode</span></a> will charge you for each request. And this way one can also keep a rough overview of what was generated. And yes, I am still committing and diff reviewing manually.</p>
Wolfram wants peace<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@mapache" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mapache</span></a></span> I am using it daily too, also in existing projects, mainly <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/django" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>django</span></a>. I agree that it can create a mess, but I also experience that by keeping an understanding of the code and giving it very precise instruction <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/claudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>claudeCode</span></a> does a really good job, often. I just doubt the time invest is near zero, currently.</p>
Wolfram wants peace<p>It is fun to code with <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/ClaudeCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClaudeCode</span></a>, definitely better than with <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/cursor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cursor</span></a>. It just understand my code way better and gives way more comprehensive and useful suggestions.<br>But is it good that I ask questions about code it wrote for me? Doesn't this also mean somehow I do not understand it? Or is this where programming (with <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a>) is going and I should just relax?</p>
