So I've been trying to disable MS Copilot on my work laptop.

I found a help article on the MS website that tells you how to do it. It relies on clicking on options that simply don't exist.

So I contacted our IT support. Had a quick response with another 2 suggestions (which I'm guessing he googled), and they also relied on adjusting non-existent options.

Has the AI become sufficiently self aware that it's writing bogus articles on how to disable it out of self-preservation?

The companies that get wiped out by #AI by 2030 are the ones whose owners stop thinking. They wait for someone to tell them what to do, or they rely on tools they don't understand. The ones who win are the ones who stay curious. They play with AI every day, not because they have to, but because they see what's coming and want to stay sharp.

Today and tomorrow are spent in the beautiful city of Mechelen.

Two days learning, connecting and, today, speaking!

I’ll present my session on Copilot for SQL, with all live demos (wifi permitting) at 14:50.

dataMinds.be Connect is an amazing conference to attend. It’s mindblowing that their sponsorship sells out in 2 minutes and a few seconds. It’s a testament to the event, organisers and, very important, the volunteers!

More #MS365 #Copilot basic fails - asked it to remove the background from two photos and pick out a dog in one photo and two cats in another.

Admittedly these were challenging backgrounds, but rather than admit that it does not have the resources to do the job, instead it delivers a completely separate AI generated picture of a short haired Patterdale terrier (rather than Yorkshire/Patterdale cross), and similarly a tabby and ginger cat when there were two ginger cats in the original. So it cannot even identify common breeds of a normal household pet (I'm not even trying to get it to deal with unusual exotic wildlife)

#BigTech is often claiming that #regulation will kill #innovation.
This is the weirdest lie of all.

#Excel: #Microsoft couldn’t create it themselves so they bought an early version in the 80s
Edge browser: First bought now based on Chromium.
#Google AI: Bought Deep Mind
#CoPilot: Is actually #OpenAI
#Windows: based on DOS (still lots of DOS inside), bought in the early 80s
#Android: Actually #Linux
#Amazon Ring: bought
#AWS: Started all with Open Source…
#GitHub: Bought (MS)
#LinkedIn: Bought (MS)
#Ads etc: Xandr bought by MS

I could go on.
They all were innovative. Microsoft the last time (dont know)
Apple: iPod, iOS (macOS is based on BSD Unix and Mach and later Xen, iOS is sort of also based on this, but I am in a good mood today)
Google: Google Search almost three decades ago

Trying to use #github #copilot #ai that will make me lose my job within a year but it can't even generate 5 lines of functioning code 😂 it makes up syntax, it makes up functions, it forgets special characters, what a complete shitshow, is this it?! #chatgpt
