Jetzt habe ich mich gerade zum ersten Mal unberechtigterweise über mein #PaperTablet #reMarkablePro geärgert, weil ich mit #eBooks kaufen wollte, die einen #Kopierschutz für #DRM haben. Auf dem reMarkable kann ich diese elende Adope-App nicht installieren, mit der ich eine Adope-ID erstellen und so die eBooks überhaupt erst öffnen könnte. Als Ratschlag, der für mich allerdings auch ein Augenthema ist, wäre, eine entsprechende App auf meinem Android-Tablet zu installieren. Nur ist das deutlich kleiner, spürbar schwerer und das Display sehr viel heller (was ein Lesen im Bett, während mein Herzensmensch neben mir schon schlummert, unmöglich macht), nicht matt und draußen auf dem Balkon lesen, wenn die Sonne scheint, würde auch schwierig werden.
Entweder war ich seither nur in Nieschen unterwegs, in denen solche Schutzvorrichtungen nicht nötig sind, oder die Verlage fangen jetzt erst so richtig damit an und ich werde zukünftig dann wohl nur noch sehr selten komfortabel lesen (und mir Notizen machen) können.
Übertragungserkenntnis: wenn ich als #ADHS-ler, für den die Texteinstellungsmöglichkeiten bei eBooks eine enorme Energieersparnis und Lernqualität bedeuten, schon so in diese #WalledGarden-Dinge gedrängt werde, wie heftig ist das dann für Menschen, die vollkommen Abhängig von diversen Hilfen und Unterstützungen sind?
reMarkable selbst kann ich da keinen Vorwurf machen, denke ich.

Haben die überhaupt #DRM? Wenn nein könnte @fuchsiii notfalls nen Weg finden die Audiofiles direkt zu extrahieren - notfalls wird halt alles von der Seite was mp3/flac/Opus/Speex/wma/aac/... ist runtergeladen und der Rest verworfen werden...

I know most of us don't watch broadcast TV anymore, but did you know the broadcast industry is forcing DRM not only on consumers, but on independent TV stations too, and replacing the functions of the FCC to a private, opaque industry group that demands an NDA?
The airwaves are public resources and for decades have been regulated as such, with requirements that broadcasters serve the public. This is in complete opposition to that!

"Buying" digital things is, arguably, confusing language… something that has irked me for many years (since Amazon started "selling" #Kindle books which they could unilaterally remove from "your" device).
