Today marks 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) came into effect.

Earlier in the week, advocacy groups and institutions from across Massachusetts, including the MBTA, rallied and marched in Downtown Boston to celebrate the milestone, mark the progress thus far, but also raise the alarm amid the looming threats to programs, budgets, and government offices that members of the disability community rely upon.

We said we’d be pursuing answers — now we are.

Vox Political has officially written to Parliament and submitted a Freedom of Information request over the DWP’s refusal to explain why death-related benefit data was released after MPs voted to cut Universal Credit.

This matters. And we’re not letting it drop.

Vox Political · Osborne wants a ‘year of hard truths’. Here’s one: He’s HIDING the truthBy Mike Sivier

#AugustaME - #DisabilityJustice #Resistance Fair

Saturday, July 26, 2025
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

"35 years of the #ADA and we’re still here fighting for access to lifesaving care.

"On the anniversary of the ratification of the Americans with Disabilities Act, join the local disabled community and allies for an educational event highlighting the intersectionality of disability rights advocacy. The Disability Justice Resistance Fair will be a connection point for people who care about their disabled community and are trying to make a difference.

"There will be tabling by organizations leading #MutualAid efforts in Maine and those fighting for marginalized groups and causes that overlap with Disability Justice.

"Come enjoy food and music, while engaging in workshops and learning more about local efforts to protect our neighbors from the devastating attacks on #healthcare, #HumanRights and the dignity of all people.

"It’s all connected…and we are too.

The DWP revealed a sharp rise in serious Universal Credit internal reviews — including deaths — just hours after MPs voted for major disability benefit cuts.

It’s now clear that recommendations from earlier reviews remain unpublished, despite promises to release them months ago.

What exactly is being hidden — and why wasn’t Parliament told in time?

So glad to have found it after missing it when it came out in 2020. Deeply deeply recommended!
