It sparked an interesting reflection on the relationship between AI and humans, particularly the concept of EPOCH and contrasting perspectives on AI development. The basic idea is that there are five skills that cannot be performed by AI in their entirety, but rather that their overall application is reserved for humans. 1️⃣ E➖mpathy and Emotional Intelligence: The capacity for understanding and sharing emotions and managing one's own. 2️⃣ P➖resence, Networking, and Connectedness: Capabilities used in physical presence, facilitating interaction and shared experiences. 3️⃣ O➖pinion, Judgment, and Ethics: The ability for critical thinking, synthesizing information, considering perspectives, and integrating analysis with moral considerations. 4️⃣ C➖reativity and Imagination: Capabilities for generating novel ideas and visualizing possibilities . 5️⃣ H➖ope, Vision and Leadership: Qualities like optimism, initiative, perseverance, and the ability to inspire towards a goal. Waxing and Waning {NCC-1703}

OK fedi, if you had to describe it in a formal document what epoch would you say we are in? It's 2025 so we can't really consider it the 'early 21st Century" but neither could it be considered "mid...". I don't want to refer to the "2020's" as we are now half-way through those but need to include the next five years in the vision I'm casting so can't simply say "into the 2030's".

Any ideas?

@vt52 I'm getting stuck at the part where you're splitting up the configuration.nix into a /common folder and a /hostname folder (in my case 'epoch'). When I run nixos-rebuild --flake .#epoch, I'm getting really abstract Nix errors.
