around 2016, #GitLab realized that the number of open issues was growing faster than the team could handle (or just look at) them.
a year later they decided to close all issues that had not seen activity from a GitLab team member for a while. that made some people unhappy. so they stopped doing that.
one or two years later, they decided to make a bot comment on old issues and then close if nobody responds. of course I tried to reproduce all of those year old bugs and responded to the bot every year since then.
so now they came up with a new plan: they run a script with a personal access token to close old issues. I got notification emails in several of my old bug reports with the exact same message coming from different product managers.
to me, this is really frustrating because I feel like my time on documenting the bugs along with reproduction steps, fighting the autoclose bot for years and sometimes even arguing with product managers if it actually is a bug—that time feels wasted now.
