I've recently started using #LibreOffice in anger, & am truely amazed at how far it has come.
The preset styles are so much better than Word's. I found that you can apply styles in a heirarchy ( paragraph > list > character )
The MS Office Open XML standard has been around for about 18 years. Open / LibreOffice has been around with an XML standard that's even older than that. Why do I still get emails with file attachments in .DOC format?
Am I alone in still getting old style MS Office files from organizations in my inbox? Unfortunately antiword is long unmaintained, so terminal viewing is a challenge.
@libreoffice Do you know if odfdom-java is maintained? It has a bunch of outdated dependencies, but there seems to be at least some activity in the source repository.
There is also something odd with the versioning, where there is a 1.0.0-beta from 2019, but the latest release is from 2023 is 0.12.0. This causes dependency check tools to be somewhat confused.
Or is there perhaps an alternative library I should be using instead to connect to a running instance of Libreoffice?

nicht standardmäßig in die MS Cloud spielt oder mich durch eine sogenannte #KI ausspioniert.
Mich schreckt es ab, wenn ein Monopolist mich komplett überwacht und in jede Ecke seiner Software unerwünschte Funktionen (sogenannte KI) einbaut
Ich bin digital deutlich souveräner, wenn ich #Opensource nutzen, egal welche Nebelkerzen andere versuchen zu zünden.

Selbstverständlich ist #LibreOffice besser als #MSO.
Selbstverständlich ist es besser, wenn Quellcode öffentlich ist.
Alle Unterstützer prüfen sich gegenseitig und es flöge und fliegt sehr schnell auf, wenn jemand böse Dinge einschleust.
Dazu muss ich nicht den kompletten Quellcode prüfen. Ich kann mich auf veröffentlichte Audits verlassen und um auch diese provokante Frage zu beantworten, jemand hat es gemacht!
Mich überzeugt im übrigen schon, wenn ein Software meine Daten...

Je suis en train d'essayer d'avoir les mêmes configs que je personnalise sur les deux. Du coup je suis en train de le faire sur l'un pour le passer/transférer sur l'autre (en attendant de ne plus du tout être sur #windaube ). Aussi j'aimerai savoir si c'est faisable et si oui, comment.
Attention, j'apprends tout un peu tout seul, donc les termes techniques je ne les comprends pas.
Le retoot fait s'évanouir un fascho

@mjdxp Obviously the reduced revenue, profit and longer ROI of One-Time-Purchase, Standalone Commercial Software will, at some point, result in board demands to cancel those in favour of #Office365 / #Microsoft365 - #subscription-only #WebApps as that'll allow them to cancel 2 of 3 development teams, strenghten lock-in and support more platforms for less money at the same time.
- TLDR: Obviously you are correct!
The only reason #Microsoft didn't do it yet is hecaude they fear it'll be too harmful and rather move people towards @libreoffice / #LibreOffice than make them suck up the changes…

Was using #Excel for my #NaNoWriMo daily #writing progress logging.
It kept *whining* about the fact that the spreadsheet is in OpenDocument format and that there *might* be some formatting that will be lost! Every. Time. I. Save. The. Fucking. Document.
...Just for calmness's sake, I think I'll do this in #LibreOffice instead. It's not whining about OpenDocument files at all!

Also immer diese abwechselnden Farben pro Reihe?
Da würde ich mich mal langfristig über einen einfachen Knopf freuen.
