"The era of Trumpism is defined by #greed & short-term thinking. #Republican politicians routinely sell out once-cherished #political beliefs to cater to Trump’s whims. #Business leaders sacrificed long-term economic stability by pandering to the president. #Law firms abandoned their commitment to the #Constitution to get in his good graces. #Media companies axed basic journalistic ethics — and their reputations — to buy off Trump."

@Remittancegirl The problems immigrants are being scapegoated for are caused by the owners of every single major media outlet in the #UK, and by their fellow ruling-class friends whose companies advertise in those media outlets.

Of course they aren't going to tell their audience "Our scapegoats are blameless of what we've been blaming them for, and we've been lying by telling you otherwise; the parties actually at fault are us."

The only way to get media to cover immigration fairly is to grow the capacity and audience of independent media, to ruling-class media's loss. To do that, start by covering other working-class and middle-class concerns in a way which ruling-class media won't.

Meanwhile, build community networks, to build relationships, to gain a trusting audience, at least some of whom are willing to pay for that independent media.
