I tried a commercial “overnight oats” mix. It was tasteless and formless. It was basically just the milk. Now I know what not to get. I might try another brand to see if it’s any better.
Heute hatte ich mal Zeit und Ruhe nur für mich. So sah mein - von Hummelgeschwadern umsummtes - Frühstück heute im schattigen Berliner Hinterhof aus. Unkompliziertes Porridge aus der Mikrowelle, ein paar halbtote TK-Himbeeren, 1 kleiner Apfel, Walnüsse, etwas spicy Chai-Pulver, eine Prise Meersalz. Den Klecks Honig hatte ich nur vergessen.
Mein Rezept für Porridge aus der Mikrowelle findet ihr hier, samt ganz vielen Tipps für Toppings, die ihr drauf schmeißen könnt. Imho ist Porridge ja auch ein ganz tolles Rumfort-Gericht und verträgt alles mögliche, von süß bis salzig bis Spiegelei, Tofu-Crumbles oder karamellisierte Bananen und Schokocreme.

I posted about a really #yummy #oatmeal #recipe that I came up with the other day (see previous post). It's super simple nothing fancy but I had some left over and when I warmed it up I added some frozen blueberries and let me tell ya, that was the best oatmeal I've ever had. That's saying a lot because I don't really care for oatmeal that much but I've been trying to add it to my diet more lately.

One of the few good things about living in Tokyo is that there’re more small businesses here & thus more chances to support them. This place has great coffee & I realised they’re mostly plastic-free. Also, learnt for the first time that oatmeal cookie dough seems to be a thing. Never seen one before!
So langsam geht es mir besser und ich hoffe zu Weihnachten normal(er) essen zu können. Mein Frühstück heute war toootal gewagt: Porridge aus der Mikrowelle, Bananen, gemetzelte Mandarine, Keksgewürz (Rezept im Blog), Erdnussmus, Sesam, Honig.
Ihr wollte auch schnell und easy Haferbrei kochen? Hier geht es lang, mit vielen Ideen fürs Topping.

Success! The oatmeal was delicious this morning. 
I’m looking forward to this blueberry-peach-coconut baked oatmeal for breakfast tomorrow. 
Peanut butter* is the best mix-in for oatmeal. It adds a nice, rich flavor that isn’t too sweet and makes it creamier.
Especially if you’re warming up the oatmeal in the microwave.
*Sunflower or other suitable non-nut butter should be an acceptable alternative if you’re allergic to peanuts.
