To celebrate #OpenStack turning 15, we asked folks at the past #OpenInfra Days NA to fill out cards sharing the contributions they’ve made to OpenStack over the last 15 years—and WOW, the responses were incredible. 💙

Jim Blair took the cake (literally 🎂) with a contribution to every OpenStack release except one!

Now it’s time to fill out your contribution card and share it on social media with #WeAreOpenStack

I also voted for #OpenInfra to join the #LinuxFoundation in the recent days, and as someone who has been using #OpenStack for a very long time, let me say this:

#OpenStack is still great, and I would consider it mostly the under-cloud for other systems like #Kubernetes

But ... the OpenStack user experience is horrible on all fronts. First time usage of any component, documentation, and even worse, contributor experience. These are hurdles, and they are all choices by the project. 😢

OpenInfra arguably lost the fight years ago, a fact made glaringly obvious when stalwarts such as the veteran #Linux vendor SUSE decided to drop SUSE OpenStack Cloud in 2019 and go all-in with #Kubernetes.

Still good to see #opensource projects finding log term support even if they are niche offerings now!

Skype will shut down soon. I wanted an open source alternative so I tried Galene (galene.org/) multiple times to call my dad and it works very well.

For now, I spawn a disposable instance on OVHcloud using OpenTofu and the OpenStack provider. Then I configure the software using Ansible. The code is available here git.riou.xyz/jriou/galene-clou.

Tomorrow, I would like to only host a TURN server on my VPS and self-host galene on my homelab.

Orrr. Dinge kaputt gespielt und eigentlich(tm) wieder gerade gebogen.
Also Radikalkur.

The error was: TypeError: fun() got an unexpected keyword argument 'tags'

Wo auch immer die Tags herkommen. 🥴🙄… (1/2)
