Seems to me that the #LNP in the 48th Parliament is a carbon copy of the #Opposition in the 47th Parliament based on QT shenanigans and gotcha questions they are tabling. So, I’ll make that at least 9 years before they even get a look at governing again… the longer they keep this circus up, the longer the’ll stay out of govt.

I do my best to watch the first QT of a new #Parliament. I did so today, and while the House was better behaved than in the past — a reflection of the polies’ ability to learn and adapt — I was unfortunately confronted with an #LNP in #Opposition still stuck in the bad old days, asking for Y/N answers to smarmy and erronious questions in order to elicit some ‘gotcha’ moments. Some polies never learn and are doomed to fail in adapting to new political realities. Surprised? No, but I wanted to be.
The overall comedic effect was more than helped along with #AngusTaylor ‘s debut (as LNP Shadow Minister for Defence) and his ill-conceived (or ill-informed or both) indignation at the PLA Navy circumnavigation of the continent — how dare they do to us what we do to them in international waters. That it was a ridiculous question is supported by the facts that this issue was discussed to death in the press and commented on by the govt when it occured and that this was not the first circumnavigation of Australia by the #PLANavy . I could say: “Do better Angus’ but I doubt he could.
One question stood out. #Marles was asked about a recent purchase of Russian oil by Australia. A question never answered. Marles’ obfuscation was plain and obvious to all. He barely filled his allotted time with repeats of support for #Ukraine.
Ah well, we have three years to get use to the agonising death of the LNP #Coalition. Not before time either.

Eben: In einer Parteien - #Konkurrenzdemokratie werden möglichst knappe Mehrheiten gebildet & dafür #Fraktionsdisziplin eingeführt. Das ist instabil & kann von den Rändern blockiert werden.
In einer #Konsensdemokratie werden möglichst breite Mehrheiten bis in die #Opposition gebildet. Das stärkt die #Mitte.

Even if #Trump is carrying out increasingly draconian iterations of these same policies, remember that 1) pretty much every #president regardless of party affiliation has carried out many of these exact same policies to varying degrees, and 2) the #democrats, whom are often framed as the “ #opposition” have proven themselves time and time again to be completely and utterly impotent at best, if not outright #collaborative with his administration at worst, in all of these policies and agenda.
At their very best, #democrats are controlled #opposition.
At their worst, they aren't much different in outcome to #Republicans since they often compromise with Republicans.
Our #political system is broken.

- Es gibt faktisch keine wirksame, vereinigte #Opposition gegen diesen. Keine gemeinsame Ideologie, Konsens, Führung oder Organisation!
Und gerade in den #USA ist dies fatal, denn anders als der #Iran sollte dies dort zumindest theoretisch machbar sein!
Nur ein Gedanke: sind all die Menschen, die jetzt unter die gute Oppositionsarbeit der Grünen permanent sinngemäß drunter rotzen, dass sie versagt hätten etc. Sind die jetzt einfach nur sauer auf sich selbst, da sie Grün nicht gewählt haben, weil sie dem Populismus und dem Verriss vor der Neuwahl auf den Leim gegangen sind?
Wir alle müssen jetzt mit dieser cdu-Shitshow leben.
