Chris Hosey, the director of the #Georgia Bureau of Investigation [#GBI], said the charges stem from Gray “knowingly allowing” his son to possess a weapon.

Gray is in custody & the charges are “directly connected with the actions of his son & allowing him to possess a weapon,” Hosey said.

The father of the teenager accused of #Georgia’s deadliest #SchoolShooting told investigators looking into an online threat last year that he had been teaching his son about #guns & hunting, & that the boy claimed that his account had been hacked.

The father said they had hunting guns but the teen didn’t have unsupervised access to them. The boy denied making the online threats. The sheriff’s office alerted local schools to monitor him, but there was no probable cause for arrest or additional #law enforcement action at the time. #Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said the teen would be charged w/ #murder & tried as an adult.

Casualties were reported at #ApalacheeHighSchool in #Winder, #Georgia, on Wed morning, per #BarrowCounty Sheriff's Office.

One suspect is in custody, the sheriff's office said.

The incident is over & a local hospital is "treating multiple gunshot wounds.”

Details on the number of victims & their conditions were not officially released.

Winder is ~45 miles outside of #Atlanta.

Posey will be charged with three counts of Capital Murder. Additional charges are pending. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement, released to ASP custody, and transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center. ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the shooting that occurred on Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:38 a.m. at the Mad Butcher grocery store. Fourteen people were injured from gunfire, including 11 civilians – three of whom were fatally wounded. Two of the 14 were law enforcement officers whose injuries are not considered life-threatening.
