I've been coding this in C with the intention to test porting it to console homebrew such as for gameboy and nintendo DS.

I'm using the BASIC source code as printed in a 70s gaming magazine as a guide. I've made some changes but tried to keep most of the logic and numbers faithful to the original.

I created Notebook RPG, a free minimal solo ttrpg meant to be played anywhere with only a pocket notebook, pencil, and one d6. Roguelike gameplay that moves as fast or slow as you want it to.

Do a quick read through the rules, copy the tables to your notebook for reference, and start dungeon delving instead of doomscrolling.

And here is the same visualization style applied to two other map projections.

Equirectangular keeps the scale constant on the equator and meridians. But the squares close to the poles are stretched.

Gall-Peters preserves the relative areas. The poles are even more stretched.

While the Mercator projection fails to preserve the relative sizes, it does map squares to (almost) squares, which made the Mercator visualization look very nice.

I keep getting back to "The Ascend" on XBox. Fior some reasons I really enjoy the game allthough the boss enemies are hard as hell. But hey, I can be a gun-wielding cyber-something in a diablo-like game with astonishing graphics and really, REALLY nice places!
