Soul People series
Title: Heaven Sent

SOUL: the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life; the moral and emotional nature of human beings. (source: Merriam-Webster Dictionary) I watch the local and national news too much. As a result, I am witness to people facing serious life challenges that are beyond my own measured world. To me, the Soul People series reflects aspects of intrinsic humanity, including the suffering, alienation, confusion as well as the quest for joy, peace and understanding that people experience in their day to day lives. Depending upon the "soul" within, they deal with these challenges differently. In these images I am trying to explore and visualize what that might look like.

The EU aims to create a ‘competitive’ single market for space services.

The EU Commission is aiming to create a competitive single market for space services and data by cutting red tape, protecting space assets and ensuring a level playing field for all businesses.

It would apply to EU and non-EU operators—excluding military activities—and it foresees support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

When we say gDRT "puffed" a rock, this (video) is what we mean:

More on that, and on what #Perseverance was doing to rock Kenmore, in a new post by its team:

Notes:
• The name of the AutoNav software reappears alone in this post, where in some previous ones the shitty term "AI" had been used.
• The rover set a new record of autonomous driving (411m) on Sol 1540.

A picture taken yesterday by Perseverance, featuring the COVID-19 Memorial plate on the left side of the rover chassis. It commemorates the impact of the pandemic and pays tribute to the perseverance of healthcare workers around the world.

This might explain the back-and-forth of #Perseverance in the area east of Krokodillen.

Mold-like dark spots spotted a week earlier at the location where the rover tried unsuccessfully to core a rock. This rock is at approx. 1.7m horizontal distance from the rover, and it's visible width is ~2.5cm.

Not only did the new rock look similar to the last one, which #Perseverance abraded and tried unsuccessfully to core, it also crumbled in a similar way, albeit this time during abrasion.

The Seagull Nebula

An interstellar expanse of glowing gas and obscuring dust presents a bird-like visage to astronomers from planet Earth, suggesting its popular moniker, the Seagull Nebula. This broadband portrait of the cosmic bird covers a 3.5-degree wide swath across the plane of the Milky Way, in the direction of Sirius, alpha star of the constellation of the Big Dog (Canis Major). The bright head of the Seagull Nebula is cataloged as IC 2177, a compact, dusty emission and reflection nebula with embedded massive star HD 53367. The larger emission region, encompassing objects with other catalog designations, is Likely part of an extensive shell structure swept up by successive supernova explosions.

Explanation:
An interstellar expanse of glowing gas and obscuring dust presents a bird-like visage to astronomers from planet Earth, suggesting its popular moniker, the Seagull Nebula. This broadband portrait of the cosmic bird covers a 3.5-degree wide swath across the plane of the Milky Way, in the direction of Sirius, alpha star of the constellation of the Big Dog (Canis Major). The larger emission region, encompassing objects with other catalog designations, is Likely part of an extensive shell structure swept up by successive supernova explosions. The notable bluish arc below and right of center is a bow shock from runaway star FN Canis Majoris. Dominated by the reddish glow of atomic hydrogen, this complex of interstellar gas and dust clouds with other stars of the Canis Majoris OB1 association spans over 200 light-years at the Seagull Nebula's estimated 3,800 light-year distance.
