Okay, this spam message is becoming ridiculously ubiquitous and seems to be infecting every Mastodon server. What's the story/motivation behind this?
I'm implementing some mitigation steps at the WAF level to keep this from getting to any more of theATL.social, but I was curious as if anyone had any background on the overall scam/motivation?

I love how email spammer/fishers believe everyone buys Norton products, which no one ever does.
Den Bot-Kommentar habe ich baugleich bereits paarmal zu Gesicht bekommen. Hinter dem Link verbirgt sich übrigens ein Aufruf einer vorgeblichen Person aus UK, die für eine andere vorgebliche Person aus #Gaza Geld für deren angebliche Evakuierung zu sammeln vorgibt. Es werden herzzerreißende Umstände geschildert, während betont wird, dass die Zeit dränge. Wer oder was auch immer dort in Wahrheit finanziert wird. Alles daran ist faul.

Ich halte solche Spendenaufrufe für hochgradig unseriös, ich rechne mit #Betrug. Der Bot erbittet mit Hilfe impliziter Beschämung Spenden für eine vorgebliche notleidende Person. Hierbei ist auch nicht sofort zu erkennen, dass die persönliche Ansprache in Wahrheit durch einen Bot erfolgt. Es kann nicht verifiziert werden, wer oder was tatsächlich dahintersteckt. Spammers and scammers seem to be constantly surprised that all new Keila subscriptions are manually reviewed. Turns out: #Meta isn’t using an 8€/month plan to send support emails. 
I deleted and refunded the account before they managed to send a single email.

Jag har haft barn i SportAdmin och funderar på om det är det som ligger bakom då de har mail, telefon och namn från läckan. Eller är det nåt annat/slumpen?

A work client started getting hit last week with a tsunami of Russian spam in the comments of their WordPress site.
The volume of comment notifications is proving an unfortunate hassle.
Can anything be done pre-emptively to head off the spam? (Is there anything like shared IP blocklists in the WP community?)
If anyone knows of an effective fix, please let me know. Thank you!

Ich habe vorhin das tatsächlich erste Mal #Spam per #Signal bekommen.
Nein mich wollte niemand in eine Geheimdienst Besprechung einladen sondern irgend so eine obskure Butze wollte mit mir über Aktien oder Kryptomist sprechen. Welch großartige Chance doch gerade entstehen. 
Drecksbande, gleich als Spam gemeldet, geblockt und gelöscht.
Mal sehen ob es hilft?
