Watching Squid Game and got a questions about South Korea.

The participants in Squid Game all had debts which they wanted to pay off with the prize money.

Is that a cultural thing to sacrifice oneself to pay off debts in Korean society?

I did catch the hint they left (and I hope it's real) that there may be an American Squid Game spin-off that starts where this ended. An American spin-off / sequel would be so much better than, say, a reboot, if they're hoping to continue capitalizing on the franchise. There's still room to fix these issues if they continue the story. Maybe some antifa punks will join the game in LA, and they'll know how to handle the antipaths.

Overall, I do really admire Squid Game's metaphor for fascist capitalism, even if they taught the wrong lessons about how to fix it.

Spoiler mode: OFF

This is what I mean by Abuse Culture. Even the media with a supposedly good moral message, really digging into the dynamics of power and the structures of fascism within capital, continues to carry water for fash. Continues to enable fash to keep on fashing.

The three takeaways from Squid Game 2+3 are:

1. Don't punch Nazis, no matter how many innocent people will die,
2. The lives of innocents are expendable if it means you can remain "morally pure,"
3. There's not much point fighting, because the fash are going to win anyway.
