Did you know? 70% of online-only games end up completely unplayable after server support ends.

And worse, the main reason this number isn't 100% is because fans of the game sometimes manage to reverse-engineer and emulate the servers to make the game playable again.

Without that, it would mean that 96% of this entire industry is trying to scam consumers by breaking the product they bought after purchase!

And don't even get me started on how awful it is for game preservation...

If you want to stop this, you need to sign the Stop Destroying Videogames European Citizen Initiative: eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public

I know it needs twice as many signatures and there's only 2 months left, but it was also the same with the initiative against conversion therapy and it got a big enough boost to 1 million right before it expired. Hopefully it can be done again.

Don't let the corporations redefine what it means to own something.

Pleased to see the EU stop killing games petition has reached minimum thresholds in 7 countries, but they still need 550,000 total signatures by July 31st. Only EU citizens can sign, so if you are one and haven't signed it, please consider doing so.

Some updates on the #StopKillingGames campaign from Ross. We had a couple of big promotions that fell through, frustratingly, but our main chance for the European Citizens' Initiative is for non-English sponsored messages on YouTube, TikTok, etc.

Pressure from the #StopKillingGames campaign caused #Ubisoft to implement offline modes for The Crew 2 + The Crew Motorfest. We are making an impact! Keep signing if you want more games to have end-of-life plans, keep your consumer rights safe, and advance game preservation!

An announcement regarding the
#StopKillingGames movement:

We call upon you to share the word about the Initiative far and wide. Online, or in your daily life, you MUST spread the news to ANYONE you can reach! Regardless of whether or not those you approach play video games, it is important to emphasize that our continuing endeavor to protect our consumer rights and preserve our art and culture will have a universal impact on citizens of the European Union as a whole.

@Kletskous I don't understand the reasoning behind this poll. The #PPEU is a *political party*. Ergo, its job is to produce politics; its job is to intervene. As is the case with the #PPI, though, under the Germans' "leadership", it's become a mere instrument for approving budgets and Board member appointments. The PPEU was absent from all political matters besides #StopKillingGames & #ChatControl in the past two years. @monadoll @Birgitta @vasper @piratepartygr

@neil

Yeah, I completely agree.

Europeans, you all have once in a lifetime chance to save one form of digital art, Games! For everyone!

Currently game publishers can take away your access to games when they shut down authentication servers.

This EU bill aims to give users the ability to keep using the assets they paid for offline, on their own computers.

Sign up and save a bit of your culture! Brought to you by EU MPs and Gaming fanatics.
