My plans for the week:

▪️ install #DietPi on my old #RaspberryPi3 (https://dietpi.com)
▪️ flash the #YunoHost pre-installed disk image to a new MicroSD card and attempt to set it up on on my #RaspberryPi5
▪️ if I'm successful, I'll set up #Jellyfin on it
▪️ create a little storage system for my microSD cards so I can swap them in and out (I won't wipe the one that has #Ubuntu on it, but set it aside so I can use it in the future)

I have a hunch I will ask 🎅 for a new Raspi this coming Christmas... maybe the #RaspberryPi500 😅

Continued thread

I didn't quite figure out exactly what problems Canonical needs to solve before #Ubuntu Core is released, though there are many other atomic/immutable distros already out there.

Canonical's Jon Seager did talk about issues with Snap permissions and stability, and the fact that whatever app store (or repository) you currently use effectively has root on your system.

Presque trop facile...

:blobreach:

@jnsgruk Well we've got an almost functional ubuntu bootc desktop. All the snaps, etc. work out of the box. Not many modifications needed.

It would be relative easy to maintain but I don't have the spoons to do it long term.

If someone in the #ubuntu community is interested it solves the problem.

Asking for some help on Ubuntu. I have three different browsers installed but I cannot select a different default browser in the System/Apps/Default Apps settings. The options box just shows Firefox with no drop down arrow or different choices at all.
The other two I have installed are Vivaldi and Zen, but it's like the OS doesn't know they are there.

Am on 25.10, this was the same situation before updating yesterday though.

UPDATE: Sorted out now, Vivaldi was installed from flatpak, Ubuntu couldn't see it, installed Snap version of Vivaldi instead, there it is as a choice in default settings.

I have a feeling I avoided doing the Snap install originally due to seeing some negative chatter about it, but I really can't remember exactly now. Thanks for your help provided in the replies.
