You Won’t Believe What’s Killing These Birds - videos.trom.tf/w/b387BXYu9BSXR…

We went to Slovakia to monitor migration routes and nesting sites of different bird species. Unfortunately electric lines and electric poles is a serious danger for the birds. But there are great solutions, and there are many people working on solving this problem.

"The measures and actions within the LIFE Danube Free Sky project (www.danubefreesky.eu) are implemented by the project partners (energy companies, NGOs, national parks) in 2020 - 2026. The project is co-funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic. Freedom Flotilla's latest official update, ~1h ago:

Freedom Flotilla Official Update: It's time for our governments to do their jobs and sanction Israel. Its illegal attack on 'Madleen' while sailing in international waters is a small extension of their war crimes in Gaza. Governments, institutions, media, and corporations must stop protecting Israel, now. They must stop prioritising profit over human lives, now. Protect our volunteers while protecting Palestinians in Gaza and wider Palestine.

Tunisian aid convoy to set off towards Gaza

Thousands of #volunteers will set off from several cities in #Tunisia towards the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, demanding entrance.

The Joint Action for Palestine Coordination Committee in Tunisia says that a land convoy will pass through Libya and Egypt on its way to the Strip, expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and bringing much-needed aid.

The convoy includes at least 7,000 people.

It's #Volunteers’ Week; a week for celebrating the contribution of volunteers & thanking them for all they do.

Most voluntary sector organisations simply wouldn’t be able to do what they do, make the difference they make, without the people who voluntarily give up their time & skills to make things happen.

#Volunteering benefits the individuals who take part as well. I've written a blog all about it; browningyork.com/communication .

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everyone! This month, we are planning a podcast on the topic of Open Source, and I would like to ask you a few questions. Your feedback would be very valuable to me in gathering different perspectives.
Thank you in advance!

Allgemeines Verständnis von Open Source:

Was bedeutet für euch „Open Source“ und wie hat es eure Sichtweise auf Software verändert?

General understanding of open source:

What does “open source” mean for you, and how has it changed your view of software?

Dear Community,

We live in a time when open-source software plays a vital role in technology. The innovative power and diversity that arise from open-source projects are indispensable for many of us. However, these valuable initiatives need our support to continue existing and thriving. Many of these projects are run by dedicated developers and volunteers who tirelessly work to improve and develop their software.
Unfortunately, this passion is often not sufficiently financially supported. Open-source software allows us to access a wide range of tools and resources that not only facilitate our work but also promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
By supporting these projects, we contribute to an open and inclusive technology world where everyone has access to critical technologies.
To ensure the longevity and sustainability of these projects, it is crucial that we all do our part. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference. Consider whether you have the opportunity to support your favorite projects. Perhaps you also have the ability to actively contribute to development or provide feedback to further improve these projects.
Let’s work together to ensure that the open-source community continues to flourish! Your support can help these projects provide innovation, diversity, and free software for everyone in the future. By pooling our resources and commitment, we can build a strong community that values and promotes the benefits of open collaboration.
Thank you for your commitment!

#StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦🇺🇸

Today, I learned that my recent donation of tourniquets, sent to my friends at Hell’s Kitchen, has been delivered to the ⛑️combat medic of the 127th Brigade in #Kharkiv. These lifesaving tools are now in the hands of first responders and defenders on the front lines.

➡️ Every effort—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply raising awareness—makes a difference. Let’s continue standing with Ukraine.

Clean Up the Beach in #solidarity with #Heiltsuk Nation

June 8 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join RAVEN and #Surfrider for a World Oceans Day beach cleanup, where we’ll be fundraising for Heiltsuk Nation’s legal challenge that aims to protect #marine #ecosystems from coast to coast to coast.

This year, we’re choosing to engage in #community reciprocity not just for our own local #watersheds, but as an act of solidarity with Heiltsuk Nation, whose own beach cleanup — following the Nathan E. Stewart spill — is so much more complex.

So, come out to #CloverPoint in Victoria on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 11am-1pm for a community-powered beach cleanup. Together we are aiming to fundraise $2,000 for Heiltsuk’s legal challenge on #WorldOceansDay.

Richard Rogers, English Puritan, writes on Christian duty. We manifest Christ’s love to neighbor by pitying their miseries, as Christ did. The neighbor’s greater calamity should speed our aid make us ease their pain as much as is possible in us.

Today, the greater the calamity, we’re told, the greater the need to wash hands, not to reinforce bad choices, and to wall the sufferer off from us.

How can you manifest Christ’s love?
