Sorry, if I misintpret your post, trying to understand Italian based on my mediocre Spanish 🙂

#XMPP itself does not define #e2ee, but almost all clients do support #OMEMO encryption, which is more or less copied from Signal.

In addition, you can choose a trustworthy provider, such a #cooperative or club.

Maybe for that reasons, German #police seems to believe (wrongly), that #Jabber (the traditional name of XMPP) were "the first pillar of #cybercrime"!

Solo una accortezza: #XMPP non è cifrato #E2EE. Se posso fidarmi di te, non ho idea di chi sia il tuo host o, se lo tieni a casa, il tuo ISP.
Ed in ogni caso, a queste condizioni, compromettere un nodo significa esporre molta gente a rischio.

So, what kind of messengers do we have. Let's take a look at Mike Kuketz' Messenger Matrix. This list recommends seven menssengers.

Let's see how many are left when we include jwz's points:

This leaves us with #Briar and #XMPP.

Today I upgraded my #Prosody #XMPP server from 0.12.5 to 0.13. I had to stop calling the vcard_muc module in my configuration files, as that functionality is already provided by another module. To double check: I was able to change a chat room's avatar, even after removing vcard_muc.

Thanks for the #debian backport, @debacle :dy62:

PS: running "prosodyctl check" *doesn't* (and arguably should) notice that vcard_muc was called, and recommend that it should be removed.

Edit: I reported this in the Prosody XMPP chatroom.

Does anyone use Conversations (Android #XMPP client) as Unified Push distributor with Schildi Matrix client?
I've set up mod_unified_push on Prosody and it seems to work — all tests in notification troubleshooting pass and the notifications themselves arrive just fine. Problem is, every time I open Schildi, it seems to re-register the receiver making a new push URL. The notifications still arrive, but by the end of the day I have like 20 HTTP pushers and I have to delete old ones from time to time.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just buggy? Nothing like that ever happened to me when I was using ntfy.

@KazukyAkayashi @feudjais j'ai souvent entendu du bien de Movim côté UI/UX, peux-tu décrire ce que tu n'aimes pas ?

Sinon j'ai développé avec Libervia une passerelle ActivityPub <=> XMPP grâce à une subvention NLnet/NGi0 qui devrait fonctionner avec Movim. Je suis très pris et je n'ai pas encore pu faire une release officielle, mais des gens utilisent déjà.

@monocles I've been happily using monocles Android #xmpp client for a couple months now, but since this morning I'm unable to connect with message "Stream error". App wasn't updated overnight, same JID I've been logged in as, credentials haven't changed. Tried rebooting phone, toggling account enabled. Server is prosody (Snikket) and the and JID and credentials can connect from other clients.

It would also be nice if, like on mastodon, we could leave notes about users to remember the context for them. It would be even nicer if the notes could include some kind of structured data — hashtags would be fine — and the group system would let you set a hashtag filter that would soft-stop you from adding people without the hashtag to that group. Bonus points for integrating the chat folder system with hashtags as well. This would go a long way toward helping the system scale for organizations.
