There are many interesting historic buildings in and around Glasgow, including the Chatelherault ornamental hunting lodge near Hamilton to the southeast of the city. It was designed by Robert Adam as an 'eye-catcher' at the end of Hamilton Palace's south avenue, and was built in between 1732 and 1743. This is just one wing of what Adam jokingly referred to as 'The Dog Kennel'.

Love this sculpture on the corner of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company Building on St Vincent Street in Glasgow, especially the webbed foot poking out the bottom of the cartouche. It was created by Archibald Dawson when the building was constructed the 1920s.

J.J. Burnet's North British and Mercantile Insurance Company Building at 200 St Vincent Street in Glasgow. Dating from the 1920s, and featuring sculptures by Archibald Dawson, it's a great example of the type of imposing financial building commonly constructed in the city at this time.
