Who TF thought it was even worth considering adding "#AI summaries" to #Wikipedia?

arstechnica.com/ai/2025/06/yuc

At least the idea is "paused" due to (CORRECT) backlash. Good. The next step must be to trash it entirely.

LLMs are !!!NOT!!! suitable to summarize written text; the error rate is just too high. LLMs really do more harm than good in this area.

Ars Technica · “Yuck”: Wikipedia pauses AI summaries after editor revoltBy Ryan Whitwam

Pretty funny podcast. There's some good points about #GenAI #bullshit. Specifically suggesting genAI in appliances can be a way to deskill people and make them more dependent (you could call it #UserDomestication in the kitchen and the home). Without forgetting possible #ProgrammedObsolescence through dependence on cloud services.

The Omnivore's Deception | John Sanbonmatsu

youtube.com/watch?v=pZq5KknPrN8

"The meat industry and its defenders promise ethical consumption and sustainable farming, but animal agriculture fuels ecological destruction, entrenches human supremacy, and masks cruelty with comforting myths. John Sanbonmatsu, philosopher and author of The Omnivore’s Deception, shatters the myths of “humane meat” and the 'naturalness' of eating meat, and explains why abolishing the animal economy is essential to living an ethical human life.

A L T E R ... Nie mehr wieder, #Tink! Nie mehr wieder ... 😡

This is the paper the journalist references:

The AI antagonists, once again prove that humans do not need #AI to generate #bullshit.

All that this "research" proves is that at the most generous these Professors are ignorant of how #LLM models work. Which is the most generous interpretation of the human #hallucinations they created. Because the other explanation is less generous, they engage in academic fraud.

Briefly why:
Methodology.
They upload a specific full 185 page textbook into the LLM context window (presumably with full permission of the copyright owner), then they ask SUPER SPECIFIC questions, 👉without directing the AI to reference the specific text uploaded👈.

Once again, be sceptical when humans reference a "study" showing "Bad AI". So far, every time I have seen such a study, it's the human flailing at the controls.
Including the "famous" #BBC study.

Newsflash: "Hammers cause thumb injuries in humans who are 👉untrained👈 in their use"

So the private sector apparently can't save Canada's economy, rather the corporations are all (silently) admitting that the state is necessary for Canada's economic survival. Like the private market yankee petromen demanding taxpayer handouts while making record profits and emissions.
