I thought it would be great to have #PiHole, but accessible from anywhere. And then I came across #AdGuard Home and deployed on my public server. It's open source, all the data stays on the server, it just downloads the filter updates. It has a nice dashboard and from our network it's as fast as #Cloudflare or Google #DNS.
I think I'll give it a shot.

In case there was any doubt:
- DNS4EU is filtered and surveilled
- That was the plan all along
- In a distributed system like DNS, there is no means to enforce censorship without enforcing centralisation either of the service, or of “filters” or “controls” to be applied apply to the service
- Some in the EU understand this, so when DNS4EU fails to deliver there will be some kind of backlash; so we wait.

This was not exactly the pitch, but then like all “we must have a national instance of <distributed thing> because sovereignty”-projects, the goal is innately self-defeating because what if your citizen doesn’t want your offering?

We updated DNS-over-QUIC in Unbound #DNS resolver to use the latest release of ngtcp2, version 1.13.0. It now also supports OpenSSL 3.5.0.
In addition, this change now calls the new performance increase init for the ngtcp2 crypto library. #DoQ #OpenSource

Woran lag's? An CNAMES!

Seit einigen Tagen werden Medien meiner Mastodon-Instanz metalhead.club global verteilt über ein eigenes CDN ausgeliefert. 
Das verringert die Latenzen für Benutzer aus nicht-EU Ländern und sorgt für weniger Frust bei den Ladezeiten.

Sagt mal - kann das wirklich sein, dass es außer Cloudflare keinen globalen DNS-Nameserveranbieter gibt, der 100 % Ökostrom einsetzt? 
Es gibt zwar ein paar, die nur mit Ökostrom laufen, aber die sind dann mit ihren Nameservern nur regional aufgestellt. :(
