I went to see them again yesterday and it's always my favourite stop during bike tours. They are very gentle and curious and tend to form strong bonds with those that take care of them. Unfortunately they are also endangered (as far as I've found out, there are under 500 left on this planet). If they are anywhere near you, make sure to say hello to them

A Poitou donkey stands directly in front of me and looks into the camera. Their head is visible, their ears only at the base. They has a white muzzle and dark eyes. Behind them, meadow and sky.

This is as close as it gets. You can see the fur on the donkey's nose and their eyes. If you stretch out your hand, you can touch the donkey 😉

Two Poitou donkeys are grazing in a meadow. They were quite hungry when I stopped by.

The Poitou donkey doesn't look that large in the photo, but they really are very tall. And they have long, thick fur. Plus the white muzzle. They really are very cute. This donkey here is eating. What else? :)

The tenants at Beck Foot keep donkeys and they also had a foal last year, which is quite grown up now.

We've noticed a cute new arrival over the last few weeks but never stopped for a photo opportunity until now.

A female donkey is grazing in a paddock and it's foal is standing in front of her, ears up and looking to the left. They both are brown but the foal is much darker, almost black. Both have a creamy white muzzle.
