To focus on an ecosystem, listen to all voices and find a solution to an ecological, emotional and spiritual need for healthier biomes. And by doing so, strengthening the web of community enveloping us - and reintroducing Wildness into our everyday lives.

Finding the path back to our ancestral homes: the forests, mountains and meadows, islands and coastlines, wetlands and woods, and sharing them with the rest of our Planet’s inhabitants.

Forest Ecology ed. by Lindsay Petterson, 2025

This book aims to offer a detailed understanding of the ecological principles governing forest ecosystems. It covers forest structure and function, biodiversity, and the roles of forests in global biogeochemical cycles. The book also addresses the impacts of human activities, climate change, and conservation strategies on forest ecosystems.

Satellite data reveals 15-year trends in forest carbon storage worldwide…

Forests play a central role in the global #carboncycle as trees store #carbon in their trunks, branches, roots and leaves. However, #climatechange and human activities can change the ability of #forests to absorb carbon and the annual changes in these carbon stocks are highly variable in space and time around the globe... #Climate-protecting #carbon sinks of #EU #forests are declining

Forests cover around 40 percent of the EU's land area. Between 1990 and 2022, they absorbed around 10 percent of the continent's man-made carbon emissions. However, the #CO2 absorption capacity of forests, also known as carbon sinks, is becoming increasingly weaker. This is shown by calculations of multi-year carbon budgets by an international team of researchers in a recent Nature study. idw-online.de/en/news856239
