Has anyone else noticed on GitHub that we can't even browse source code now without running their JavaScript? Well, I can't in a FireFox-based browser with privacy plugins anyway. This is just another step down the path to the further enshittification of GH by its small, soft overlords.

If you are still developing Free Code on GH, it's long past time to consider an exodus. There are plenty of community-hosted replacements:

#Introduction

Okay, hi, so I'm JC or mazily. All pronouns, over 40, going through a soap opera phase (#GH, some #Days, looking forward to more #Neighbours). Slowly working on a novel or two.

CJ/Toby was my first fannish ship. Multi-and-poly-shipper forever. When I manage to write it's usually femslash or adjacent.

Lately I've been into #SVU, #StarTrek, #TedLasso, soaps, and #Hacks—reading and vibing more than writing these days, but that's always subject to change.

None of us on the team particularly enjoy the developer experience of signing anything with GPG. We didn't have any experience with this prior to publishing GitHub CLI and, if we had a choice, we wouldn't be doing it. However, signing package repositories seems to be mandatory, at least for Debian/Ubuntu.

GitHubGPG key used to sign debian packages is expired · Issue #6175 · cli/cliBy matt-allan

In case you are using the gh CLI client on Fedora from the gh-cli.repo you need to replace the /etc/yum.repos.d/gh-cli.repo gpgkey= line with the one from
cli.github.com/packages/rpm/gh
because the previous 0xc99b11deb97541f0 key expired, and have to confirm to add the new key once during upgrade.

Note that from F35 onwards the gh package is also provided by Fedora, so you can get rid of the extra repo as well.
