Anne JokisaariKarttaperhonen on erikoinen laji: sen alkukesän sukupolven ulkonäkö on täysin erilainen kuin kesän toisen polven (molemmilla sukupuolilla). The map butterfly is a special species: its early summer generation has a completely different appearance than mid summer's second generation (for both sexes).<br> Näillä sukupolvilla on jopa erilaiset latinankieliset nimet, mikä kuvastaa luonnontieteilijöiden ja biologien luovuutta :-). Kolmas sukupolvi on näistä kahdesta vielä erinäköisempi, mutta harvinainen Suomessa, koska kesä on lyhyempi kuin Euroopassa. Ainakin vielä nyt. Karttaperhosia alkoi näkyillä meillä 1970 ja -80 -luvuilla ja on yleistynyt pikkuhiljaa pohjoista päin.
