I am beginning to hate bigtech. Is it purposely designed to make us feel disempowered, erode any sense of control over our choices, lives? Do we buy stuff just to be manipulated by it? Its getting really mad though. I get a bad feeling.

“The natural worry for anyone hoping to have a job in five years’ time is what #AI might do to that job. And while there are few certainties, Autor and Thompson’s framework does suggest a clarifying question: does AI look like it is going to do the most highly skilled part of your #job or the low-skill rump that you’ve not been able to get rid of?

The answer to that question may help to #predict whether your job is about to get more fun or more annoying — and whether your #salary is likely to rise, or fall as your #ExpertWork is #devalued like the expert work of the #Luddites.”

Ferriers, agistment and grooms.
Take heart.
This unseemly automobile fad will soon burst.
The land will not bear all the motorways and the fumes will choke the air.
I for one will rejoice when the investors see no return on their squandered fortunes into this mechano folly!

“Why is the code taking twice as long to write?”
“Because I generated it with AI as requested by you, then I need to review it carefully and write tests. Since the code is not generated to be tested this takes time. Then I had to throw it all away because it doesn’t work and write it correctly”

Ooooh boy…I do hope I get one of these ridiculous edicts.
“Why did this production problem happen? Why doesn’t this code work?”
“It wasn’t me. It was the AI. I used it exactly as you requested”

This is the paper the journalist references:

The AI antagonists, once again prove that humans do not need #AI to generate #bullshit.

All that this "research" proves is that at the most generous these Professors are ignorant of how #LLM models work. Which is the most generous interpretation of the human #hallucinations they created. Because the other explanation is less generous, they engage in academic fraud.

Briefly why:
Methodology.
They upload a specific full 185 page textbook into the LLM context window (presumably with full permission of the copyright owner), then they ask SUPER SPECIFIC questions, 👉without directing the AI to reference the specific text uploaded👈.

Once again, be sceptical when humans reference a "study" showing "Bad AI". So far, every time I have seen such a study, it's the human flailing at the controls.
Including the "famous" #BBC study.

Newsflash: "Hammers cause thumb injuries in humans who are 👉untrained👈 in their use"

"It’s really important for a kid to be left alone"- When #TaikaWaititi made his feelings clear about the role of tech in children's lives

" 'Exactly, now they’ve all got iPads and it’s done for them! I think it’s really important for a kid to be left alone and left to figure it out for themselves how to pass the time. As a kid, I spent so much time bored and coming up with ideas of how to do things, so I’d write stories or I’d draw pictures or invent worlds through drawing or just in my head, just thinking about things. I think that a lot of my creativity has really come from being bored.' " [SO TRUE!!!]

Rejoice #luddites, turns out human data is actually a bit of a drag for #AI's
There is just not enough of it and humans are actually bit slow teaching the machines.

So the engines now are going to get their own goals, with hookers and blow.

Machines get smarter, and you don't have to cry that the #LLM ate your Furry-Marvel fanfic crossover erotica blog! #winwin !!!

The latest version of #ChatGpt #4o is very shit at coding.
I can see why #vibecode folk are frustrated and #luddites rejoice.

Eg;
Context "forgets" key spec points of the session, even ones that are critical to ops.

You have to jam everything with special checkpoint directives and hammer specs in, least they get forgotten.

It's terrible (and I have used earlier versions and #Claude)

In my opinion, what is happening because of the high compute burn, #OpenAi optimised the session manager. It burns less compute but is also more shit. The balance must be restored.

Big drama at #CIVITAI, The premium #AISlop hosting site.
Civitai is THE #LORA (#GenAI) model repo.

Payment processors like Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Stripe, and PayPal have banned transactions in the past related to pornography or sex work on the basis of "reputation risk" and it looks like their morality tentacles reached Civitai.

Content Control Through Financial Gatekeeping: Because banks and payment processors control the flow of money, they can indirectly dictate what content is monetizable on the internet. This "financial censorship" is a form of privatized control where banks affect ultra conservative ideology. What Musk and #Maga cohorts would call "Sexual Degeneracy"

Isn't it great when the forces of evil (#finance) and #luddites (who let me be swift in saying are the good guys) combine to fight against AI ?!!!

Before any more #luddites insult me...

...this is the T-Shirt I am wearing to work today.

I was with you before you were with me. But your "efforts" alienate people and lack vision to stop the Moloch. Misrepresenting the PROSPECTIVE capability of AI is just silly.

Yes it's just a T-Shit, but it beats Insulting allies thinking your doing anything constructive.
