My videos are slowly and steadily making their way across to MakerTube.

Going to tidy them up in channels and eventually add the original publish dates so they are in order, but if you want to pop over and see what's what and maybe subscribe, then here's where you need to be:

MakerTubegribblesAmateur #musician currently creating a kind of laid back #electronica and getting involved in stuff that will do nice things for people. Aiming to Do More #Art in the future. We'll see... #electron...

A good friend asked me to play at his birthday party along with a few other folk. One of the things he does is every now and again send me links to YouTube videos of various funk tracks. And when he asked me to play, he said I had to play something funky.

Now, if you know my music, you'll know that 'funky' isn't an adjective that normally springs to mind.

But I *did* have this one old track.

So, 4 days before the gig, I thought I'd dig it up, prep it & learn it.

It went pretty well - though my brain to fingers comms need to get a bit quicker. But I'm thinking of keeping it in the live set.

I know it needs a bit more work (the improv solos are a bit ropey!), but it's nice to keep a record of where it started out live - even if it does expose my sloppy playing to the world (or, at least, the dozen folk who may watch this video...).

What do you think? Is it a keeper?

The line up for the Switched On electronic music weekend at Flowergate Hall in Whitby has been released.

As a fan of electronic music, it looks like it'll be a cracking weekend. Some great artists in that list. Can't wait.

As an artist who has just rediscovered the fun of playing live, I'm so looking forward to playing for the #SwitchedOn crowd. Can't wait.

It's going to be a great weekend! If you know someone who is partial to a bit of bleepage, do share

#ZephyrOS has a pretty cool http server demo that runs out of the box on many of the supported boards. It can even toggle the LED used in the blinky demo through the browser. It drove my crazy that on my mimxrt1060-evk, the network always lost connection when the LED was toggled. After some unsuccessful debug attempts and #wireshark traces, I finally downloaded the schematics and took a look 🙈

So yesterday I saw a @postmarketOS toot about their web flasher for Android devices, and I thought - how hard would it be to make one for L5? Turns out - not hard at all. Here it is booting Jumpdrive.

Some caveats:
- requires permission setting on Linux 😔 I may work out-of-box on other platforms though
- it's sloooow, but there's hope: github.com/WebAssembly/design/
- asks 5 times to allow access to the device. Could go down to 3, but no less than that.

Currently installing MCUxpresso IDE on Linux (Debian 12). I fail to run code because of an ARM toolchain issue, then I see this in the doc :

So, the way I'd put is : "we know there is a bug in our installer which says everything went fine when actually mandatory packages are missing, but we don't want to fix it and will leave it up to you to manage to install those obsolete versions" :(
