Yehor 🇺🇦So I moved almost all services from my custom built <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TrueNAS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#TrueNAS</a> to the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Hetzner" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Hetzner</a> dedicated server. Now it’s just a TrueNAS with Plex and *arr stack. And I started to think it is too powerful for its current tasks with Core i5-13400 10-cores CPU. First I thought I’ll move media server stuff to my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Synology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Synology</a> DS423, which I’m not using currently. Then I suddenly realized that with this current CPU I was not having any issues playing 4K HDR movies, no matter how big was the source file. But with Plex on DS423 I had those issues. So I started to think about a CPU with less amount of cores. And you know what? My Core i5-13400 has base power at 65 watts. And Core i3-13100 with 4 cores instead of 10, for example, has base power at 60 watts. So what’s the point? I’ll leave my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Plex</a> server as is for now. I recently added a friend to the server and it handles two 4K movies (one with transcoding) simultaneously just fine. Change one to Overkill L.A. and move to a folder called Overkill L.A., refresh metadata nope, update library nope, still in with Overkill. Remove OverkillLA files and folder out of where Plex finds music, update library. Then add them back, update library and adds them back to Overkill even though the artist tags are Overkill L.A. Ideas?
