Is there anyone here who has experience scanning books, manga, magazines, etc? How do you do it? What's your setup like? I have a simple flatbed scanner but using that would be way too tedious... So I was looking at other types of scanners... Any recommendations for ones that are fast and reliable?

Last week I went back to the photo lab and told them I was so surprised by the rendering of the scan of my last film roll. They kindly agreed to give it another try and scanned the negative again. The second one was completely different. I happen to like them both! But it made me wonder how much control you lose when you delegate the processing and scanning of film. Unfortunately, I can't really afford to add a darkroom to my place, but maybe I could find a (simple?) way to do my own scanning?
