Effective immediately and definitively, I no longer use scotch brite pads and similar in my #restorations, #woodworking, or anything else. These products fall apart into plastic dust as they are used, going straight into the environment.

There is a global #microplastics problem. And with the new study released about them accumulating in our brains, as well other organs, well…

We need to do better since corporations & governments won’t. The onus is on us.

Steel wool for the win!

As a Single i personally find it ...boring to cook (properly preparing and adding ingredients...) but nevertheless enjoy meals.
So i tried out some ready made stuff - then realised how actually used (and privileged) we are to a lot of things. #ingredients

My "Red Curry"meal contains stuff from:
Germany
Poland
China
Turkey
Portugal
Spain
India
Ukraine
Indonesia

🤪
🤔

(Btw. a majority of the ingredients probably would be used when/IF i'd cook that myself)

I got this zine because @futurebird talked about it, and it's wonderful. It's a double zine: the main text on one side, and quotes and more information on the other. I was reading out the quote about paying attention and got all choked up with emotion.

There's also this beautiful quote:

"the world is full of persons
only some of them human
and life is always lived in
relationship with others"
--Graham Harvey, Animism: Respecting the Living World.

I'm working on a mixtape.

It's all #smallthings and #CommunityMedia

It'll be a multimedia experience presented on a dvd-r, featuring cc-by and cc-by-sa stuff, plus material from artists who have directly consented to inclusion and a handful of things from artists that I'm unable to contact but pretty sure wouldn't mind.

Included on the disc will be a catalog of what each thing is, and where you can find more, and who you can pay for it if you like it.

I'll be selling copies of this mixtape for $5 + media mail shipping within the united states.

Each copy will come with a small print catalog highlighting music and other media that I sell, and stuff that my friends make, and stuff that I've found around the world. Each of these things will have a description and a URL and possibly also a mailing address where you can buy copies.

I'm planning to do this once a quarter, but we'll see what happens when the rubber hits the road.

I had a book I needed to read in its entirety today before it was due to the library. With my nose buried in it station after station on my commute, and reading it on the sidewalk under the light of my phone, I finished it *as I turned off of the sidewalk to the library's front door*!

I don't want to turn reading into a competitive sport but, if it were, that right there was a perfect game.

The world is a mess. To notice small things is not to ignore the grief, the appalling human toll, the species loss, the habitat wrecking. To notice small things in the wreckage is to take another breath and keep going, to keep protesting.

This weekend I learned about the tiny trigger plant currently flowering, and its wild survival technique. “Pollination is achieved through the use of the sensitive "trigger", which comprises the male and female reproductive organs fused into a floral column that snaps forward quickly in response to touch, harmlessly covering the insect in pollen.”

Just think about the evolutionary effort that went into this. #SmallThings #bloomscrolling

On my jog today for a moment I thought it was snowing…but look at that blue sky. Then I realized it was little bits of wood chips raining down. But..no big woodpeckers in sight. I stopped and watched and way high up a little bird (I think a nuthatch but was hard to see) was cleaning out a cavity. It was amazing that such a small bird could make such a sawdust storm! #slowtravel #smallthings
