Where has the #tolerance gone?
I've noticed lately that many people here are quick to criticize others. Thankfully, it's mostly done calmly and objectively, but sometimes, unfortunately, it's loud and arrogant. In rare cases, it even descends into insults, slander, and deliberate falsehoods.

Some engage in these discussions because they believe they are fighting for the right cause. Others, unfortunately, do so to deliberately polarize and draw attention to themselves. I certainly won't reach the second group with this, but perhaps at least the first:

The #Fediverse is the most diverse place on the internet I know, and that's a good thing. But that can only work with a lot of tolerance. And tolerance primarily means: live and let live. Not seeing yourself and your #opinion as the only #truth and allowing alternative viewpoints.
In most cases, it's enough to simply not follow (or unfollow) people who bother you in your timeline. If that's not enough, muting or blocking are functions specifically designed for this and work well.
And if you feel you can't "stay silent," a private message is usually better than a public one.

Don't get me wrong: I don't want a platform where you can't say anything. But you don't have to constantly "take over" other people's posts with your own views. Write your own posts for that.

"As these tools become more powerful and affordable, #skepticism in #media will grow. But the question isn't whether we can trust what we see and hear. It's whether we can trust who's showing it to us. In an era where anyone can generate a realistic video of anything for $1.50, the #credibility of the #source becomes our primary anchor to #truth. The medium was never the message—the #messenger always was."

What can a playwright-turned-president and a novelist in exile teach us about power, truth, and resistance?

Václav Havel’s The Power of the Powerless offers a bold vision of how ordinary people can resist authoritarianism- and Milan Kundera helps us see its limits and complexities.

Check out my new blog post exploring how ideas shape resistance:

My only problem with #corporate "absorbing" #tariffs is ?

What #election cycle has #Corporate "decided" to #absorb anything?

Seems rather #communist to be forced to absorb anything as the middle class absorbed all the damage from #Covid.

#Capitalism was not absorbing anything during the #Biden administration.
Corporate America has a #truth problem.

A report about the TWO factors involved in a mad authoritarian rising to power

Look beyond the figurehead dictator - mad Toddler King in this "dangerous case of Donald Trump" - but at the #cult of followers/deniers/enablers making it all possible.

From Hitler Youth to Charles Manson to Sir #TrumpVirus, an emperor with the most terrific #cognitive clothing. ("Perfect, really")
