Ok, I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get #RAID configured on my #lenovo #ThinkPad #P70 - to no success.
I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyCC1NGe8a8&t=36s of the similar #p50 and configuring #RAID which shows the #BIOS interface but my P70's only show the "non-raid physical discs" I do not have an option for RAID volumes. Note I have upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version on lenovo's web site. Any thoughts?
I have attached 2 #screenshots of what the BIOS displays - I'm trying to configure the RAID on the two 512GB #NVMe sticks.

The next #thinkpad on my #workbench is an #E450 – I grabbed this from #ewaste to provide a family member a better laptop. It has a #i5-5200U at 2.2Ghz, and a max 16GB of #DDR3L #RAM so it can/should run #Win11, #linux, or #BSD with ease. The IO is ok, with multiple #USB3 ports, #HDMI, #ethernet and a memory card reader. This is a decent form factor, weight, and would make a decent laptop for someone. Though no docking station capabilities, they removed the port underneath.
There is a big BUT with this laptop though: it keeps freezing, and the video is glitching. Which may be why it went to ewaste…
I upgraded the DDR3L RAM to 16GB, and wiped the 500GB SSD that came with it.
Starting installing #Win11, and I let it install and reboot so I could refill my tea – to come back and the laptop was frozen with a black screen.
I rebooted, and it froze on the initial Win11 change password screen.
I rebooted again, went into the #Lenovo #BIOS #diagnostic tool, and started the full tests. As the test were running, I touched the nub and the video started glitching. Letting the test continue, the laptop froze while testing.
So, is this beyond time & effort to get working – or pull the spare parts and move on from?

Sorry #NetBSD. Your OS is to bloated for my computer and my experience to slim NetBSD down is to low. Am having 32 MiB system memory.

I wonder how long this #AMD Am5x86-P75 needs to get a RSA key.

Even if it’s not anywhere as famous as Silicon Graphics machines, this workstation from the 80s has something that others don’t have; a game exclusive to it, that fully takes advantage of the so impressive graphics that it could display! Check it out at the link below!

My second #suntember post is this #SunMicrosystems #Sparcstation model 47 service code 4/50 #development case. Yes, you read that label right: "not for customer use"! This would normally have a #sparc processor in it, so worthy of #sparctember as well.
This is how I found the case, on the curb in #siliconvalley #sillyvalley a few years ago during spring cleaning week. I ended up trading this someone in the #vintagecomputing community at #vcfw for a #lenovo #thinkpad, #dockingStation, and some other accessories. I know they will enjoy the case more than I was, sitting in my garage unused & unseen.
Hey @aka_pugs what can you share about this find?

My original Playstation's CD drive died. I ordered two replacements, one after the other, neither quite works -- this last one struggles.
Can someone point me to a source for a replacement drive for the original console? Or is it just eBay?
Alright, so it's going to be one of *those* days, huh?
Anyone come across a fake #CD or #DVD #rewriteable (#RW) media?
I have a couple of DVDs that someone burned, they are marked RW, but they will not erase.
Or am I doing something wrong in wiping these discs? #pebkac #ID10T errors perhaps? I tried #CLI and #GUI tools and they all failed - not able to wipe the #media.

"While it's always tempted to think of museums as physical spaces, it's possible to have the same kind of information online – and that's what Japanese games writer Akira Yamashita is doing with his latest venture. Yamashita has launched Classic Game World Museum, a site which aims to cover some of the more obscure gaming platforms released during the 1980s."
I don't often take moon pictures, but when I do I store them on AMPEX FR-900.

Does anybody have the right 5.25" diskette images for doing an azimuth calibration on an Apple Disk II diskette drive?
I have the "Alignment Aid" diskette, but I need an "Alignment Diskette". Alternative methods to fully re-align and maintain a Disk II drive would also be very helpful. I'm getting I/O errors. I've fully recalibrated one of my drives, verified my diskettes are good, but the other drive was more heavily used and is in worse shape.
Boosts greatly appreciated. I've been looking for awhile.
