At work, I currently face the challenge of finding a Linux softphone I can use with a 3CX PBX.

With sipgate we used Linphone, which worked better than sipgate's Softphone or CLINQ apps. But with 3CX the best I could achieve is registering the softphone. With Linphone I can initiate calls but as soon as I pick up the connection gets terminated by the remote side again (at least that's what Linphone says).

I tried Blink, which at least doesn't terminate immediately. But I don't get any sound, on neither end. I can hear recordings originating from the PBX, though. The codec negotiation works, too, as I went through each codec individually.

With Jami and GNOME Calls I can't even register the softphone with the PBX.

So, an #rtl83xx based switch, a ZyXEL GS1900-24HP v1, running #OpenWrt was now added to the rack of our hackspace. Some initial weirdness and confusion: PoE would not be enabled by default on boot. "/etc/init.d/poe restart" would until rebooted. Or manually populating /etc/config/poe with each PoE port seems to make it reboot safe...
Also PoE LEDs are not working yet.
The thing is, many crucial things in our space rely on PoE, like #VoIP phones, WiFi APs and the internet modem...

Should I try to avoid it as much as possible to limit potential recordings of my voice and face or are they supposed to be well behaved?
Their ToS seem relatively harmless but the product does not seem to be open-source so I'm not sure how much one can trust it.

What’s your favorite cross-platform VOIP app for private calls or texts?
Have you tried options like mySudo, Line2—or is there something better out there?

I'm trying to configure Zoiper with voip.ms, but I keep getting DNS 503 errors, which seem to indicate configuration issues, and apparently I don't know what I'm doing.

On Zoiper, I'm using my voip.ms username/credentials, and it SAYS its calling, but I hear nothing in the headset. When I hang up, it says NO ANSWER, and my inbox (at Zoiper) is full of DNS 503 errors.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong/stupid on a very basic level, but dunno where.

Is anyone able to lay their hands on a firmware image for a Samsung Ubigate IBG1004?

It’s an #isdn to #sip #telephone gateway, and the one I’ve got seems to be corrupt and won’t decompress.

My usual haunts for firmware images are coming up blank.

The filename will be something like `iBG1004_Advanced_1.6.1.9.Z` - but I'm really not too fussy about the version number!
