During the first days of May I've been on a 4-day-trip to Luxembourg with a dear friend of mine.

After arriving in Luxembourg City and checking in our hotel on Wednesday evening, we got up early and tested the free public transit on Thursday.
With an intercity train, a funicular and by bus we travelled to Echternach which lies near the border with Germany and is the oldest town in Luxembourg.
We had a clear and - atleast for us - ambitious goal in mind: stage two of the popular Mullerthal trail.

Duration: 9 hours and 5 minutes (excluding various breaks accumulating to more or less 2 hours)
Length: 37.75 km
Elevation: 160 m to 385 m
Ascent/Descent: 950 m ↑ and 950 m ↓

We started our hike in Echternach. This is the view over the town and its sourroundings after the first metres in altitude. The sky is clear and light blue and the sun is burning. A group of sheep are standing peacefully in a meadow in the foreground.
The trail heads through an arch made of sandstone.
Passage between two giant sandstone walls in the Mullerthal forests. A lonely tree is nearly blocking the passage.
The aforementioned passage gets narrower.

There is still backlog from the past weeks.

Here are only a few photos from the rather flat and unspectacular stage number seven (from Mögglingen to Schwäbisch Gmünd with a little extension) of the RemstalWeg. Atleast there were cats!

The same cat waits for me on the bench nearby and guards my backpack.

Back from a hike in the woods. With all the holidays here in Germany during the last two weeks I had expected to do some more hiking than usual, but due to the weather (it mostly alternated between thunderstorms or warnings of thunderstorms) it actually ended up as my least active hiking phase this year so far.

Statistics: 21.9km, elevation: 735m-965m (+530m/-530m), 4h:45min (incl. a 35min rest)
