Thermal imaging shows #xAI lied about #supercomputer #pollution. Alleging that the unregulated turbines "likely make xAI the largest emitter of smog-forming" pollution, they've joined the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) in urging the Shelby County #Health Department to deny all of xAI's air permit applications due to "the stunning lack of information and transparency."
"The new images clearly show that more than 30 of xAI’s #methane #gas turbines are operating, debunking recent claims that the company was merely storing—and not running—more than half of the turbines outside of its data center," the SELC alleged.

Ok, this is just bonkers. #xAI hasn't launched a single 'original' or 'breakthrough product and there's no reason to believe it ever will.

It has a copycat model that, despite its advantage of having unlimited access to Twitter data to train on, is at best 'average' and at worst gets beaten by open, locally runnable models like QwQ/R1

It's not 'best in class' in anything and models like Gemini 2.5 Pro just set it back further.

The valuation would be nuts even if it was good, but it's not.

#Musk friends R making money by selling access to stakes in his private companies. A coterie of his associates tightly control the entry point to hard-to-get shares investors covet particularly in #SpaceX, #xAI, #Neuralink #BoringCompany per WSJ . A business w 2,000 “holders of record” is legally required to disclose financial information like a public company. 1 way to avoid that is for existing investors to sell shares of holding companies that own stakes in the Musk businesses to outsiders.

Anonyme Flugblätter behaupten, daß die Generatoren emissionsarm sind und von der #EPA und dem Gesundheitsamt von Shelby County reguliert werden. Beide Agenturen haben keine Genehmigungen für die Gasgeneratoren von xAI erteilt.
