Simply disabling "display compositing" on Xfce4 saved me laptop a ton of battery!
Settings Editor > Window Manager Tweaks > Compositor > Enable display compositing
It’s fun to remember what you can disable to save battery without taking away from using Xfce4.

Also figured out why #spawnOn to start a window on a specific #workspace did not seem to work properly in my #Xmonad tiling window manager setup. Switched from #lxterminal to #xfce4-terminal. The latter has a "disable-server" option to use one process per window. The former or gnome-terminal don't have this option (anymore). However a per window process seems necessary for Xmonad's spawnOn. Now also integrated some more autostarting of stuff into my Xmonad setup.

today has been the first time in roughly a decade that I've installed #GNOME which I did to test how well it works with #Wayland on my setup. And although it's quite a different and very new experience for me as a long time #Xfce4 user, I think it's not as bad as I thought ... it feels less loaded then (dare I say it?!) Plasma, for example. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.
As for Wayland, it just works with my #RX580 which is very good to know.
Oh, and speaking of Xfce4 - I tried that with Wayland as well and it works, but there are still a few things left to be done, e.g. the mouse and keyobard setup didn't work (no setup dialog showed up) and there was no desktop background being shown, despite having selected a default image.

Bequem, weil 98% aller Einstellungen in der GUI zu finden sind.
Weiterer Grund: Viele von mir favorisierte Anwendungen teilen sich die libs mit KDE: #Okular, #Digikam , #kdenlive, #Krita
auf einem nebengerät habe ich seit ein paar wochen #kde #plasma statt #i3wm.
für mausaffine menschen mit dem hang zu umfangreicher konfiguration und voller kontrolle ist und bleibt kde eine gute wahl.
als "hauptsache" #desktop dient mir allerdings weiterhin #xfce4
und mein hauptgerät ist und bleibt ein fully customized i3wm
Tried the new Plasma 6. It's ok on my new desktop ("Defiant"), since the machine has plenty of cooling power and a dedicated GPU.
On my trusted flagship ("Enterprise", a ThinkPad T480S) Plasma caused rising temperatures (and thus fan spin ups). 
So I keep Xfce4.
Since desktop environments can always change and many new releases came out since last year, I would like to know which desktop environment you currently use?

Shellscript to switch between #xfce4 display profiles. Came in very handy for my multi monitor setting!
now im building another image with my ci/cd for #parchlinux arm featuring #xfce4 desktop , i would later add the parch mobile ci/cd to build the images for #parchlinux mobile edition.
i would use #plasmamobile for now later i would add the #phosh to it also #sxmo is in progress.
and in the middle im also working to migrate from plasma 5 to plasma 6 before the main release fixing the bugs in parch plasma and etc...
