Censorship and democracy are mutually exclusive. As if anyone thinks we live in a democracy now. We are not led by the best, but the cheapest.

I will not pay to have myself surveilled, so I would say it's cheaper not to have some surveillance apparatus. If you're making some "greater good" argument, I'm not buying it.
