Wird die #Chatkontrolle bei der Abstimmung morgen doch noch beschlossen? +++ Nach unbestätigten Gerüchten soll ein bisher kritisches Land umgefallen sein (nicht Deutschland) +++ Wird Finnland
ablehnendes Parlamentsvotum respektieren? +++ Jetzt Regierungen grillen!
Will the EU's #ChatControl attack on privacy and security be adopted in tomorrow's COREPER vote? +++ Unconfirmed rumours claim one critical government has carved in +++ Will Finland
respect its Parliament's vote to oppose? +++ Check your government's position now!
@echo_pbreyer Maybe it's just me, but ...
Shoudn't we put "neutral" + "undecided" in the same category and list "opposing" as green, only?
Neutral is counted by the EU as the same as opposing.
That is, this counts as a blocker
@lobingera @echo_pbreyer I assume it's about the result to be expected. Opposition and neutrality are both actual ways to vote and amount to the same thing. Undecided means it's not known what the vote is going to be.
@echo_pbreyer, one could fear that Orban and his folks have decided for the COREPER vote tomorrow because they have struck one or more deals so that there will be no blocking minority.
May #ChatControl die tomorrow and never reincarnate!
@echo_pbreyer Where can we find the results of the vote, and what is the impact of COREPER?
@jbaert @echo_pbreyer I can do the second one. COREPER decides on the agenda for the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting. COREPER determines if a vote on a subject would be likely be successful, in which case it is put on the agenda. Otherwise the item might at best be "discussed". COREPER really is a preparatory thing, but also a gatekeeper. JHA meeting on CSAR is on 12th of December.
@bert_hubert @echo_pbreyer Thanks - for someone who doesn't have time to follow it all in detail (but cares greatly about the subject), it is often a labyrinth of ACRONYMS this gets kicked through. Hard to keep the eye on the ball. Thanks, Bert!
@jbaert @echo_pbreyer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Committee_of_Permanent_Representatives - for reference. It is indeed highly confusing, and perhaps things also do not quite work like this.
@echo_pbreyer The committee responsible for Finland's stance on this issue has sided against #ChatControl and have outright called it mass surveillance.
I think we can count on Finland to defend the right to privacy in Europe!
