Departed rainy and cold Rotterdam with winds gusting up to 25 kn, crossed the entire Belgium airspace below 2000ft (a story for itself), and arrived here in France at 20 °C, calm winds and a very, very impressive scenery.

And to all that on top, the local air traffic controller arranged my overnight stay and brought me to the hotel. 🖤

@sophie did they not give you a clearance for higher than 2000ft, or were you scud running due to clouds?

@neverpanic Brussels CTA could not take me, so I had to cross the CTRs of Deurne/Brussels/Brussels South/Florennes

@sophie Oof. 3 CTRs at 2000 is a lot of work.

@neverpanic *4 - But YES!

And they are almost connected together so you are coordinating the next crossing during the crossing 😂

@sophie And the controllers aren't doing that for you? As in, you tell the first one that you want the entire thing, and they tell the next one? Seems like that would save quite a bit of time…

Anyway, I'm envious, now I want to do the radio work for that trip :D

@neverpanic Yes they coordinate with the next CTR, you remain on the frequency - but Belgium is a quite complex airspace for VFR traffic - so you have to check with the controllers about the headings/waypoints/levels you can take to not trap yourself within a restricted or military airspace.

@sophie @neverpanic Being used to wide-open (mostly) German airspace for , I find quite intimidating, just looking at the charts. Maybe one day, preferably when I find a fellow pilot to share the workload when I do it the first time.
