This resonates so much! If what you build is to be used, watch real people onboarding! And using, too, but that comes second. Do that over and over again. @nlnet may habe resources for that.

While I agree on self-hosting, I opt for self-operation - without #root permissions. Delivering agency via emancipatory, #convivial tools conflicts with a paternalist, convenience-focused as-a-service-only. Maybe offer both.

@mro @bert_hubert @nlnet That's what we did, we watched people onboarding WordPress ActivityPub and the Event Bridge. NLnet funded these observations and the improvements that came with it. It is so important. And yes, I need to continue to do so with my developments.
