Sie leben zu weit über 90 Prozent in Familien. Eltern, die behinderte Kinder zuhause betreuen, entscheiden sich trotz der damit verbundenen Risiken und enormen Belastungen für diese Lebensform, weil sie ihren Kindern einen so normal wie möglichen Alltag schenken möchten. </p><p>Fast alle Eltern stellen sich deshalb die Frage, was aus ihrem Nachwuchs wird, wenn sie selbst nicht mehr als Betreuer und Lebensbegleiter zur Verfügung stehen können. Muss das Kind dann in ein Heim umziehen? Für die meisten ist das eine schreckliche Vorstellung. Dann wurde sein Sohn Nico geboren. Nun ist er auch ständig unterwegs. In Deutschland. Er hat die Kamera eingetauscht in Windelpakete und das Flugzeug gegen einen Rollstuhl. </p><p>Für Nico</p><p>Nicht mehr gute Fotomotive sind seine Reiseziele, sondern Ämter, Behörden, und Kämpfe um alles, was Nicos Leben besser macht. Denn Nico ist körperlich und geistig schwerstbehindert. In diesem Buch gibt Arnold Einblick in das Leben als pflegender Vater eines behinderten Sohnes.
