Niele
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for you to voluntarily share that you have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that you may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.

Globally 1 in 6 of us live with a disability. That is approximately 1.3 billion people.

But while some of us experience a disability that is visible, many have a non-visible condition or experience a combination of both visible and non-visible conditions. These disabilities can be temporary, situational or permanent. They can be neurological, cognitive and neurodevelopmental as well as physical, visual, auditory and include sensory and processing difficulties. They can also be respiratory as well as chronic health conditions such as arthritis and diabetes, chronic pain and sleep disorders.

https://hdsunflower.com/

#HiddenDisability #HiddenDisabilities

Cheryl :autism:
so I entered another tram and there were several seats available. i immediately thought “better not sit on the priority seat“ at the next station someone sat down next to me on the priority seat with a sunflower lanyard.
it was so ironic, because of course I thought, no you’re not disabled enough or not as disabled as the person next to me, they really deserve the priority seat, I do not!
and then i think about yesterday how exhausting the actual travelling was for me while i had my period, was heavily overstimulated from the lights, anxiety at the security, sounds, flight delay, flight itself, just in general long journey and how it was extra hard on me since i’m a high sensitivity autist and I actually do have a brain injury since birth which makes sensory input also worse

#ActuallyAutistic #HiddenDisability
