Sidero Labs<p>We know <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/TalosLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TalosLinux</span></a> is 🤏 but is it really the smallest?</p><p>We ran the tests. Andrew Williams<p>Spent 20 minutes hunting down a Kubernetes issue. <a href="https://mastodon.incognitus.net/tags/MetalLB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MetalLB</span></a> wasn't advertising any L2 services, causing my Unifi devices to disconnect from the panel. Turns out its because of a node label added by <a href="https://mastodon.incognitus.net/tags/kubeadm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kubeadm</span></a> as by default, which now MetalLB takes note of: <a href="https://github.com/metallb/metallb/issues/2274" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/metallb/metallb/iss</span><span class="invisible">ues/2274</span></a></p><p>For people who run master only setups, you'll need to make note of this. I should really move away from MetalLB now that I have a better understanding of HAProxy, I really don't need it.</p>
Saustrup<p>If you just felt a bump in the road, that was the <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mstdn.dk/@midgaard" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>midgaard</span></a></span> ingress-nginx being upgraded. Normally you wouldn't have noticed, but the ingress labels had unfortunately fallen off the ingress nodes, meaning <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/kubernetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kubernetes</span></a> had no idea where to run nginx. How did that happen? Somehow a <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/kubeadm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kubeadm</span></a> upgrade last week stripped off the labels, and I forgot to stick them back on. Sorry about that. I think total downtime was a couple of minutes - five at most.</p>
