Red admiral – a long distance migrant.<br> Kun keväällä alkaa amiraaliperhosia näkyä, ne ovat lentäneet hyvin pitkän matkan etelästä lämpimien tuulien mukana Suomeen. Amiraalien tärkeimpiä lisääntymisalueita ovat Pohjois-Afrikka ja Etelä-Eurooppa. Ei siis ihme, että ulkomuoto on hiukan ränsistynyt ja hailakka. Kesällä tehdään uusi sukupolvi (kuva 2), joka lentää syksyllä takaisin etelään, ilmeisesti ne eivät vielä pysty talvehtimaan meillä.<br> <br> When Red admirals start to appear in the spring, they have flown a very long way from the south to Finland with warm winds. The main breeding areas of Red admirals are North Africa and Southern Europe. So it is no wonder they look a bit worn-out.
